Lincolns & Lattes

From MCS:

Street Closures:

The streets north of the Station and Newlab Lacombe and Dalzelle (between 15th and 14th street) will be closed as early as 6am and as late as 10pm the same day. Please see map for details. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Event Info:

On Tuesday, August 4, Lincoln Motor Company will be hosting an event at Michigan Central. This will mainly be a one-day classic and current car show outside but also will kick off an exhibit of Lincoln artifacts inside The Station that'll stay up through the month. We are so excited to see Lincoln's past and present vehicle lineups come to life and also celebrate the Lincoln employees who are working each day in their new Michigan Central headquarters inside The Station.

While the event is mainly for employees and members to come outside and check out, community members are welcome to spend a summer day checking out the cars and artifact displays and chatting with vehicle owners and ecosystem members.

Event Details

  • Date: Tuesday, August 4, 2026

  • Time: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

  • Location: Outdoors on Michigan Central property, with select experiences inside the Station

The event will include:

  • A showcase of current Lincoln vehicles and enthusiast-owned vehicles

  • A self-guided tour of Lincoln Archive artifacts inside the Station

  • Classic vehicles from the Lincoln Motor Car Foundation

  • Opportunities for Ford, Lincoln, Michigan Central members as well as the broader community to connect

Please note, the Ford/Lincoln teams are encouraging Club members and employees to visit local restaurants for lunch, so there may be higher foot traffic in neighborhood businesses throughout the day.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

From organizer:

Dear Community Leaders,

We are happy to announce that we are moving the Pig & Whiskey Festival from Ferndale to Corktown this year! As part of our approval with the Mayor’s Office of Special Events, we are engaging our local neighborhood block clubs, leaders, and community members to let you know about this fun and exciting summer festival.

It will be held from Friday, July 31st to Sunday, August 2nd on Beech Street and the adjacent parking lots, between the Lodge Service Drive and Brooklyn Street.

Because we value being good neighbors, we wanted to make sure you had this information ahead of time rather than hearing about it after plans were already underway. We recognize that an event of this size can bring increased activity to the area, including additional visitors, traffic, and noise during certain hours (we promise noise will cease by 10pm!).

Our team has been working closely with the appropriate city departments, public safety officials, and event partners to help ensure the festival is operated safely and responsibly. We are committed to following all applicable permits and regulations while doing our best to minimize impacts on surrounding residents and businesses. We have secured parking for the festival at the Albert Kahn lot at 830 W Lafayette, the Assembly Garage on Fort Street, and the MGM parking structure directly over the Lodge Freeway.

The festival also provides an opportunity to showcase our community, support local businesses (we will be having a mini-Corktown vendor fair within the Brooklyn Detroit building!), and welcome visitors who contribute to the local economy. We hope it will be a positive experience for both attendees and the neighborhood.

If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback before the event, please don't hesitate to reach out. We appreciate your partnership and welcome the opportunity to address any issues that may arise.

Thank you for your time, and we look forward to a great inaugural Pig & Whiskey festival in Corktown!

All the best,

Katelyn Burkart

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

From event organizer:

On Saturday, October 11, 2025, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Detroit will bring more than 10,000 participants together at the Corner Ballpark and throughout the streets of Corktown. Together, we walk to honor survivors and thrivers, remember those we’ve lost, and raise critical funds for the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer research, advocacy, and support programs.

The event will take place from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Please note that streets along the route will be closed by the police during this time, and many closures will begin earlier than 8:00 AM to ensure participant safety.

While we recognize that large events can have an impact, we are grateful to call Corktown home for this incredible day of hope and community.

This year, we would love to invite you and your block club to join in showing support. A simple way to do so is by adding a touch of pink to your homes, porches, or front yards—whether it’s a ribbon, a sign, or any creative pink display. This small gesture goes a long way in surrounding survivors and their families with love as they walk by.

For additional details about the event, please visit: www.MakingStridesWalk.org/DetroitMI.

We are proud to partner with the Corktown community and hope you’ll join us in painting the neighborhood pink on October 11. Thank you for helping us show the power of Corktown’s spirit to everyone walking with us that day.
