We’re excited to share that Michigan Humane’s Tailgate in partnership with Ford will take place in Roosevelt Park on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 7:30 AM – 2:00 PM.
This pet-friendly event brings together runners, walkers, families, and animal lovers in support of Michigan Humane’s lifesaving work—and we warmly invite our Corktown neighbors to join us, whether by participating or simply enjoying the day.
Event highlights include:
· 5K Run & 1K Community Walk
· Outdoor Festival in Roosevelt Park
· Meet Your Best Friend Adoption Event
· Food Trucks & Beer Garden
· Dog Activities & Contests
· Community Partners & Local Vendors
· Live Music and Entertainment

Road Closures (Morning Hours)
To safely host the race routes, temporary road closures will occur during the morning hours on May 9. Streets will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so after participants pass.
5K & 1K Route Closures
· 14th & Dalzalle
· 14th & Marantette
· 14th & Bagley
· 15th & Bagley
Traffic control officers and event volunteers will be stationed throughout the route to help guide traffic, minimize disruption, and maintain emergency access at all times.
Sound & Event Activity
As part of the festival programming in Roosevelt Park, there will be limited amplified sound during event hours, including:
· MC announcements for race coordination
· Background and live music within the festival area
All sound will be professionally managed and kept within City of Detroit permitted levels. Amplified sound will be contained within the park and will conclude at the end of the permitted event window.
We truly appreciate the Corktown community and thank you for your patience and support as we host this event. Our goal is to create a fun, welcoming day that celebrates the neighborhood while raising critical funds for animals who need us most.
