Howdy Neighbors!Hopefully you are looking forward to these last few weeks of summer and are excited for upcoming fall activities. Mark your calendars now to celebrate two major milestones in October – the opening of Kintsugi Village (Saturday, October 11) and the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park (Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26). Before we set our sights toward cider mills and fire pits, it’s worth reflecting on how much progress we’ve made this summer. It kicked off with dialogue around the transformations coming to Michigan Avenue and continued with a fun pre-firework social. Additionally, we’ve experienced some lessons about how to balance a peaceful residential life with neighbors like Michigan Central and Roosevelt Park who actively invite visitors to engage in Corktown’s amenities. With the help of our District 6 team, we’ve been working diligently behind the scenes to maintain open communication channels with the city and Michigan Central’s event planners to ensure our engagement is productive and two-way. While there is always room for more progress, the growing pains from this first full summer of activations – mainly parking and noise – have been showing signs of improvement. We’ll keep our end of the bargain - eyes and ears open for the opportunities for you to plug in and for the times when you need a “heads up” on an event that will draw a big crowd.
